Set up a budget

You’ve probably set up a budget for the place that you will be buying or renting, but you need to set up a budget for the move itself.
Moving costs can end up costing you a lot, and aside from that, there are always other expenses, so you need to make sure that you have enough money set aside to cover the costs of the move. You may also want to budget for any home renovations you plan on doing in your new house once you’ve moved in there.

Pack your belongings

The sooner you start packing, the better. Of course, there will be a few things that you will only be able to pack just before the move, but as soon as the move has been confirmed, you can start packing non-essentials like clothes that aren’t for the current season, books, or extra cutlery and crockery you may have.
Start stocking up on boxes as well. You may also find it helpful to visit your local stationery shop so that you can get supplies like tape and markers, which will help you clearly mark your boxes so that it’s easier to unpack them.

Figure out the logistics

Is there any paperwork that needs to be done? Do you need to take leave from work? Will your kids be moving schools? Do you need to stay in a hotel for a few days before moving in?
These are just a few of the things you should try to figure out and get sorted out before the move. Having these logistics dealt with will make the move go much smoother.
