About DesignRulz

DesignRulz has been online since September 2009. DesignRulz is run by three people: someone who thinks in plans and spaces (architecture), someone who thinks in systems and how things hold together (engineering), and a professional writer—news, explainers, and features are what they do for a living.

What we publish

DesignRulz focuses on architecture, product design, interior design, and outdoor design—with practical recommendations and inspiration drawn from projects, products, and ideas around the world. On the site you’ll find deep dives and explainers (for example residential and villa architecture, landscape and outdoor spaces, interiors, decor, and design concepts), curated roundups and “best of” collections, DIY and craft ideas, home and lifestyle design topics, and articles that help students and professionals explore themes and trends in architecture and design. Our archive goes back many years, so you’ll see both evergreen guides and timely picks.

How we work

We curate by taste and judgment, not by algorithms alone. With years of experience in architecture and design, we look for work that is coherent, well resolved, and worth a reader’s attention—whether it’s a building, a room, a product, or a small handmade project. We choose what we believe is among the best in its category, then present it so you can use it as reference, inspiration, or a starting point for your own research.

Editorial approach

We aim for articles that are useful and honest: clear titles, readable structure, and images that support the story. When we link to sources, photographers, or shops, we do it so you can verify details or go deeper—we don’t pretend a roundup replaces specialist advice where it’s needed. We update older posts when it improves accuracy or usefulness (facts, links, images, titles). Where commercial relationships apply—such as affiliate links on product-focused posts—we keep disclosures consistent with our site policies so readers know how the site is supported.

We’re independent in what we choose to feature: our goal is to serve people who care about design, not to chase empty trends. If something doesn’t meet our bar for quality or relevance, we don’t push it.

Vlad Traistaru

Vlad Traistaru — The Systems Architect & Webmaster

Vlad is the engine room of DesignRulz, the person who looks at a website the same way an engineer looks at a blueprint. While others are captivated by the color of a facade, Vlad is fascinated by the structural integrity of the code beneath it. He bridges the gap between raw data and user experience, ensuring that over a decade of design archives remains accessible, fast, and functional for a global audience.

When he isn’t optimizing the site’s performance, Vlad spends his time dissecting how things “hold together”—whether it’s a complex digital ecosystem or a physical piece of industrial design. His approach is rooted in the belief that great design is nothing without a solid foundation, a philosophy that has kept DesignRulz steady since 2009.

Luminita Sirghi

Luminita Sirghi — The Spatial Visionary & Architect

Luminita views the world through the lens of volume, light, and flow. As a professional architect, she brings a critical eye to every project featured on the site, looking past the aesthetics to find the “soul” of a space. She is the gatekeeper of DesignRulz’s visual standards, ensuring that every villa, interior, and landscape we share represents a meaningful contribution to the architectural conversation.

Her curation is guided by the belief that our environments deeply dictate our well-being. Whether she is analyzing the urban density of a new development or the tactile quality of a minimalist kitchen, Luminita’s goal is to inspire readers to think more deeply about the spaces they inhabit and the intentionality behind every line drawn.

Ana Maria Sirghi

Ana Maria Sirghi — The Narrative Weaver & Lead Writer

For Ana Maria, every chair has a story and every building is a protagonist. As a professional writer, she translates the abstract language of design into compelling narratives that resonate with both students and seasoned pros. She excels at stripping away the jargon to uncover the human element—the “why” behind the “what”—making complex design concepts feel like a conversation over coffee.

Ana Maria manages the editorial pulse of DesignRulz, hunting for the trends that actually matter and the DIY projects that possess genuine craft. She believes that good writing is like good design: it should be clear, purposeful, and leave the reader feeling slightly more inspired than they were before they encountered it.
