Every kid dreams of living in a playground!

Slides, swings and sand castles are among the things that make a child happy. And sometimes adults too. We all grow of course but living, as a child, in a fairytale place means having a great share of cheerful memories. That’s why this house is so special and unique; the master of the house is a 5 year old boy who enjoys going from the second floor to the main one not using the stairs but through a concrete slide which doubles as a secrete cave.

Designed by Aboday Architects, this two storey house is located in Serpong, Indonesia. The house is an amalgamation of an existing house and a new building at its adjacent 200 sqm empty plot. It has a sloping roof to blend with the neighbourhood’ style and keeps its own identity by using fare faced concrete punctured by small glass incisions and openings towards the main road.

An open staircase sits between the library and living area on the ground floor and leads up to a gallery on the first. Fresh air ventilation is generated by a series of ceiling fans suspended beneath the concrete roof. The interior, however, is unique, catering to the king of the house—a five-year-old boy—with a slide that goes from the second floor bedroom area to the first floor dining space.
