Pal + Smith Creative Director Melissa Palazzo represents a new generation of interior and product designers that thinks outside the box, that pushes the boundaries of predictable interior design, that blends romance and luxury with practicality. She is a modern classicist, and the new design lab and showroom she has opened at SoCo, the South Coast Collection represents her vision of interiors that flaunt fashion, music and art. The space houses her signature sofas, chairs, tables and lighting designs, all of them fully customizable, in addition to offering consumers an evolving list of fabric, wallpaper and lighting lines historically sold only to the trade. Having worked on interior design projects from Southern California to Cairo and China, from penthouses to family houses, from boutique hotels to large-scale residential developments, Melissa has an international perspective and her work, as well as the furnishings at the showroom, is spiked with all variety of stylistic references – Midcentury Modern, Art Déco, Gothic, Asian and Baroque – and lots of color (from Chinese red to charcoal, from hot pink to lemon yellow or lime).
