Are you looking for new shapes that are created by using generative algorithms? Well, that’s the right place!  x_shelf is a modern bookshelf made entirely from Alucobond boards that were folded into modules to form a self-supporting system. As you can see from the pictures below, the piece of furniture realized according to this principle proves to be very dynamic, spectacular and functional. Now, there are plenty of different ways you can storage your books transforming a dull, common living room into a contemporary, catchy space. It is perfect for teenagers or people who like to work in a creative, colorful place.

And now, some information about the project behind: the design is based on David Rutten’s “Substrate” component in Grasshopper, the Rhino McNeel Plugin, which has in turn be inspired by the processing works of Jared Tarbell. Grasshopper is a graphical algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhino’s 3-D modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper requires no knowledge of programming or scripting, but still allows designers to build form generators from the simple to the awe-inspiring.
