The cactus lives in an arid environment and this would remind us that we should be more careful with water. Jewett took the garden hose, one of the biggest wasters of water around, and turned it into a cactus, a symbol of water scarcity. The ‘Hose Cactus’ is as good a way as any to remind people how precious water truly is.
