Clooney restaurant is located  in Auckland, New Zealand and was designed by  Fearon Hay Architects. Clooney occupies an existing concrete and steel building which has been stripped bare and, within which, a sophisticated exploration of space and materials has been undertaken. A strong palette of materials has been added to complete the restaurant and bar. Oiled basalt, blackened oak and steel, leather and blown glass feature. These elements complement, not conceal, the given space and materials.  The space has been divided to provide a main dining room, bar with associated eating and private dining. The concrete frame and block work walls of the existing shell have been re-interpreted amongst curvaceous forms, fine textures and luxurious fabrics. Perception of the overall volume is filtered, opening and closing to provide intimacy while encouraging interaction across the space.
