Stylish interiors, abundance of facilities and an elaborate courtyard mark the presence of a luxurious residence. Contemporary buildings of such type tend to minimise the extravagance and to transform opulence into something more appealing: the illusion of infinity. Using transparent glass as a dominant material, erasing the boundaries between spaces and keeping the interior design as simple as possible, the experience of an immeasurable space becomes possible. The luxurious residence below was realised by McClean Design in Los Angeles and it is owned by a family with three girls. The most important challenge of the project was to ameliorate the background noise from the busy street it is located on. Thus, an innovative idea was implemented. “We came up with a sequence of entry which uses several devices to separate the occupants from the noise beyond. The drive court is screened from the street by high gates and tall landscaped elements“, architects explain on their website.

The courtyard contains a waterfall and an infinity edge pool both of which create a feeling of calm as you approach the house.

The front area of the house connects to an inner courtyard through a curving glass screen designed to allow the light to pass through but shield from the cars and noise.
