Those who know how designer Drew McGukin works, feel the touch of the “unexpected” in interiors he creates. This 24th-floor high-rise apartment in the West Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan respects the same story line: beautiful textures and bold patterns that vibrate with the perfect amount of sophistication, warmth, innovation and style. At the beginning, one of the most important element that needed attention was the floor plan – difficult to organize for livability. McGukin and his team extended the kitchen by adding cabinetry and changing out the cabinets with a darker lacquered paneling. The extended cabinetry helps define the kitchen and the dining room areas, but the great room still feels open. As you can easily notice from the pictures below, the enormous windows provide plenty of luminosity, so chandeliers, table lamps and floor lamps are layered with the natural lighting. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on a 1,100 square feet surface.

Although most of the furniture is neutral, McGukin spiced things up with colorfully patterned pillows, turquoise chairs and modern wallpaper.
