The house we present you today is located in Malibu, California and it was completed in 2007. Established in Los Angeles in 1982, the Architecture Studio has produced numerous contemporary residential projects characterized by dynamic forms, use of rich materials and abundant natural light. As you can easily notice from the pictures below, the architects combined modern and classic styles in order to create cozy, relaxing interiors. One tip if you want to go back in time – use patterns, sumptuous armchairs, parquet flooring and heavy curtains. If you want to add a bit of modernity, choose open areas, glass walls, functional accessories…and let the natural light come inside all day long!

Notice the serene-marine motifs on the piles that cover the wall from the kitchen. The designer payed attention to the fact that the house is located on a great beach from Malibu.

The dining room offers amazing views over the beach.

A large sofa accessorized with lots of colorful pillows represent the best solution when you want to create a cozy, inviting place for your friends. The traditional pattern is usually featured in a single colorway — trad shades of green, red, blue, or black on a white background. Thankfully, these rules have gone out the window. You can now find toile in every color palette  and the designs often play around with scale.

The island with an incorporated sink is perfect for the talented chiefs of the house.

It’s time to have a cup of tea facing the ocean…

The living room is cozy and elegant; hot tones of red and black make the interior dynamic and comfortable.
