This row of shop houses along Cairnhill Road are a rare example of such homes as they have two internal courtyards, linking three sections of the house. Most houses of this genre have only one internal courtyard – the provision of two here allows more light and ventilation into the unit. Architecturally, the front of the house embodies old world charm, whereas the rear court encompassing the kitchen on level one, master suite on level two and the roof terrace on level three gives the house a modern edge and is adapted to contemporary living. Originally, the rear court was a single storey structure, the architects added the second and third story extension.
