The house designed by Marmol Radziner is located on a narrow site in Venice, California, U.S.A. Working within the restrictions of the site, the house divides the lot into thirds, with the two main volumes placed on the exterior edges of the property, bridged by a sunken kitchen in the center. To maintain privacy from the neighboring houses, the residence presents mostly solid, plaster elevations on the north and south with only bands of clerestory windows to bring in light. The two wings open to the pool and garden running up the middle of the lot. A large expanse of glass along the east provides a visual  link to the pool area. And, what’s most interesting: the kitchen pavilion, set a few steps below the house’s two wings, seems to float in the landscape—looking to the pool in front and the garden in the back.
