Fun Christmas Stockings for Kids

It’s hard to imagine Christmas without red stockings by the fireplace. And, in general, it’s quite difficult to get into the atmosphere if you do not decorate your house with specific adornments. I love when somebody creates a mise-en-scène to tell the story of a happy family although not all the objects exist for real. In the picture above, we do not have a real fireplace, but a mantel. Strong enough to impress your guests! Filled with a pile of woods, it dives into a contemporary mix of elegance and naturalness. Hung on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus can fill it with gifts, the stockings remind us of our worry-free childhood. They are available in many colors – pink, red, grey -, and also decorated with funny faces: a rabbit, a fox and a wolf.

Elegant Christmas decorations

Relying on grey and black, this elegant setup is modest, yet elegant and sophisticated. The two red globes and the small fir branches are the elements that indicate a Christmas decoration. This pairs with a black candle holder and a mistletoe-like pendant with a knot. Ingenious, subtle and for exquisite tastes only. If you feel such decorations lack warmth, add spots of light, candles or bulbs.

Golden or silver Christmas decorations?

It’s a long, never-ending debate. Some say golden brings warmth, brightness and accentuates the ‘holiness’ of the season, while others prefer silver for its icy touch. However, they can also be mixed in various combinations. I love them both for the glam feeling they add to any space. All you have to do is to pay attention to the colors you bring nearby: golden works best with red and violet, while silver makes a catchy couple with blue and green.

A generous wool stocking

My favorite Christmas stocking is the knitted classic one, available in a wide range of patterns. As simple as that, this is a standard model that brings the spirit of the holydays inside. Combine it with a garland of colorful bulbs and you will have two popular items to announce the celebration. Wait until Santa Claus will fill it with gifts and share the goodies with your guests!

Garlands of firs

Symbol of the winter holidays, firs are always present in our homes. You can buy real trees or try to replace the ‘damage’ with artificial items. However, little fir decorations are also welcomed as they are more versatile and accommodate easily in various areas. The photo above depicts an elegant fireplace decorated with garlands of firs, hung by a rail as in art galleries. I like the arrangement because it is very adaptable — you can change the trees with other decorations when you get bored. Also, put a basket with cones and woods near the fireplace, and you will feel the forest very close to you.

Write with fir branches

Messages written on the walls or on blackboards are playful ways of approaching the daily routine. During the winter holydays, replace the chalk with fir branches and you will obtain catchy arrangements. Ideas for messages? A little smile. A word of cheer. A bit of love from someone near. A little gift from one held dear. Best wishes for the coming year. These make a Merry Christmas! Fix the letters on a string and hang it above the bed in the sleeping room or above the sofa in your living.

Glamorous Christmas decorations

A beautiful welcome with black marble and golden accessories will impress your picky guests. This design is sophisticated, but in a very simple way. Two white candles on a niche, a shinny garland of artificial leaves and three geometric vases underneath. Nothing feels ostentatious — it’s the extravagancy I appreciate most! All these glamorous details on a profound black layout that imitates a marble pattern.
