Are you looking for fresh ideas to remodel the living room? Then, you’ve come to the right place. We googled for the finest interiors and gathered a collection of contemporary living rooms that celebrate leisure and entertainment. Meaning, you enjoy a warm, welcoming space that can also become a floor for celebrations at home. Gliding between classic and modern aesthetics, the interiors breathe an exquisite air. Of course, our daily routine does not involve piano sessions and five o’clock teas, but we should at least allow us to dream from time to time. Long curtains, sofas covered in velvet, crystal vases with roses and imposing chandeliers are still trendy nowadays. Explore the gallery and reconstruct your own romanticism at home.

Sunny living room in natural colours

A sofa full of pillows by the window near several books and transparent vases with flowers – would you linger for more in a lazy Sunday morning? I love the diaphanous curtains that allow light come inside all day long and also the translucent look they offer when the wind is blowing. The textiles that work best for such emotions: voile, organza and even linen. But, before picking crazy patterns or rich hues, decide what do you want your curtains to reveal. Unlined voile or lace curtains are the best solutions if you want the warm sunlight to filter through your living room. On the contrary, if you want a blackout to keep the sun away, look for ‘strong’ choices like damask. Both dining and living room are painted in natural colours: beige, brown, grey, white and some greenery that animates the space.

A tall ceiling and comfy seatings

This living room features one of my favourite characteristics in contemporary interiors: it is tall. We usually believe that luxury resides in expensive items of furniture or costly decorations. But, let me tell you something – height speaks for extravagance too. It’s not about superiority, it’s only an invitation to aim very high. If you want to create a visual break, use decorative or structural beams. In this living room, the wooden beams help create a warmer environment, without neglecting the beauty of the tall ceiling. Last, but not least, the sofas offer enough space for relaxation and were displayed around a low level coffee table.

Make the living room a romantic sunroom

Would you like to experience a relaxing sunny retreat in your living room? Why not! This sunroom is so beautiful that you feel abandoned there. Recalling the atmosphere of the romantic novels, the space focuses on a classic aesthetic sweetened with pink hues and flowers. The place is open, inviting and features a deep connection with the exterior. Keep this feeling – ‘open to the backyard’ – and you will enjoy unique moments in such contemporary living rooms.

Somewhere between rustic and artistic studios, the living room communicates easily with the terrace through a gliding door. Cane stools and baskets, pastel pillows, a ‘strong’ wooden coffee table and a kingsize abstract painting add personality to the space. I love the rustic roots echoed in this living room.

The fireplace, the heart of the living room

It’s well known – no other object in a room can ever compete with a fireplace. You install it and it immediately becomes the focal point of the space. The classic models pair wonderfully with candle holders, tall mirrors in golden frames and crystal vases, while the contemporary designs speak for themselves alone.

Key elements in contemporary living rooms

To conclude, leisure and entertainment make an amazing couple nowadays. We want to relax, but also to have fun during weekends. If you want to obtain these feelings at home and make the space available for both experiences, keep in mind the following suggestions. Firstly, incorporate the exterior when possible – the garden, the backyard, the terrace or the balcony. No matter if they are small, they bring fresh air! Secondly, opt for light hues and bright colours – they enliven our spirit as well. Thirdly, look for what adds personality to the space: souvenirs, paintings, books, sculptures and all the objects you resonate with should be in the living room. It is like a second business card: the first impression matters and you want to offer your guests a profound image about you.

Sandy tones borrowed from the exterior landscape. The place reflects harmony and tranquility through a deep connection with nature.

A tall ceiling is always a plus in contemporary living rooms. In this case, it offers you the possibility to admire a large mountain landscape and also to enjoy natural light all day long.

My favourite picture in this collection of contemporary living rooms: sandy flooring tiles, exposed beams, arched windows and a very attractive painting saying ‘enjoy the ride!’ Don’t forget about flowers and greenery if you want to animate the space.
