The classic style is an everlasting love. We’ve said it before: time always honours the refined models. Spotted on Romanian blog visuell.ro, the home below features a very articulated layout that combines classic design with contemporary influences. How do you get this at home? First of all, you have to decide which segment of the classic design is suitable for your place. Some love the Parisian sophisticated saloons with Louis XV chairs, while others need the stability of the classic interiors, but update them with a fresh touch. Some want to test the power of hot colours at home, while others need soft tones to relax. It’s hard to separate the influences, but we usually suggest the versatile format. The option is more flexible and also allows you to play with colours, materials and various items of furniture.

A built-in bookcase

Optimize you space with a built-in bookcase! You gain a lot of space, the shelves do not jut out and get in your way, while the books became a ‘texture’ of the wall. The one above follows a standard layout with several decorative lines. The bottom offered space for two cabinets and the upper remained for books, magazines and decorative objects.

Elegance at its best in the dining room

A lot of people want to know whether an exquisite room is an expensive endeavour. It usually is, but you can achieve the charming, polished look at home with a limited budget too. For example, combine natural wood with fine porcelain or crystals. The dining area features a simple wooden table for six and a spectacular blue chandelier that looks like a Gothic candle holder. The result? The interior feels delicate without being opulent or too extravagant.

Are draperies trendy nowadays?

Yes, they are. Just imagine how empty these windows would have looked without the folded, delicate curtains. As a transitional item between interior and exterior, the drapery features a warm beige tone with blue insertions. The hanger hides under the niche, thus letting the textile beautify the wall by its own.

Classic paintings

The serene landscapes, the sunset by the sea or a couple of lovers in the park are only several suggestions for a classic style interior. As a general rule, people opt for harmonious pictures in connection with nature or with universal themes: love, war, beauty, youth and so on. Try a mix of three-four paintings above the sofa in the living room and you’ll experience a sweet escape every day.

A smart solution to store the plates, the glasses, the cutlery and the vases. Use an open closet with shelves for this and fix transparent glass doors to allow light come in.

A classic style bedroom

The king size bed is a must. I love the comfy beds with soft sheets, fluffy quilts and cushy pillows. It’s a territory where you can cuddle up in somebody’s arms or you simply recharge your batteries after a busy day. The one above features a big bed with a velvet headrest which gives the interior an imposing, noble air. Two lamps flank the bed on each side, creating a symmetric layout. The flowered wallpaper adds a feminine touch to the room.

The diaphanous curtains make the room feel very romantic.

A very ingenious parapet that can also be used for storing books or exhibiting decorative objects. I love the fact that they used a different material and painted it in green – it now looks like a very trendy installation.

A lovely reading corner

A home is not only about functionality. You have to rest, to linger about and to practice your hobbies. Reading is among my favourite ones. A comfy armchair and a lamp near a bookcase is all you need. If you have the possibility to install them near the window, then you are very lucky. Regarding the design, geometry played an essential role here. Dots and stripes make a wonderful couple in this room.

Use the space twice with a bunk bed

A bunk bed is perfect for your children’s room. It allows two or more kids to sleep in the same room while maximizing the floor space for activities. This type of bed is perfect when your kid invites his friends for parties. A ladder is needed for the upper part of the bed, which is usually surrounded by a railing. Some models also have a privacy curtain for the lower bunk. Children under six are not allowed to sleep on top because of the height of the bed.

A green, lively terrace where the inhabitants have dinner or play board games. :-)

A classic style frame: a lamp with a simple abat-jour, a folded curtain, a comfy sofa and several paintings that enliven the space. The room feels tranquil, steady and very welcoming.
