Sometimes living in a busy city means that you end up giving up a lot of space in your home, especially if you live in an apartment. This apartment redesigned  by Maayan Zusman Interior Design in collaboration with Amir Navon – Studio 6B, Maayan Zusman, Moran Ben Ami, is located  Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel.

A 55 meters, originally old and run down 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment , turned into a luxurious 2 bedroom, 1 bath and 1 guest toilet apartment with an open balcony overlooking the lush greenery of a quiet street just a stride down from the hot Basel square.

Except for a single one meter wall there are no other interior walls in the apartment. The spaces are separated through custom cabinetry and glass partitions. This way the entire apartment feels more spacious and airy and there’s more room for other functions.  The shared areas and the bedroom and office form two separate zones at opposite ends.

The kitchen and the living room are connected and form a small single space. The kitchen is simple and modern. All the appliances are hidden in order to create a simple and fluid décor. The black backsplash contrasts with the white cabinetry and an LED strip offers task lighting for the counter. A swivel TV concept stands between them. This way the TV can be oriented however the users want. It can even face the open balcony adjacent to this shared space. The rest of the space is cleverly segmented by specially designed cupboards (in which all electrical appliances are hidden) and glass walls.

Despite the need to utilize each mm, the balcony was opened and is spacious. In it, an orange tree was planted and in this manner, the greenery was bought even closer to the apartment. One of the main concepts of the design was a glass cube that segments the apartment space. This glass cube, both transparent and black glass, contains the “wet spaces” (bathroom and guest toilets). The entire guest toilet is a black cube and in it a smaller yellow cube which is dual-sided and connects it to the main bathroom.
