Located in Houston, this contemporary Asian restaurant was awarded a 2010 AIA Austin Design Merit Award. Designed by Michael Hsu, it’s composed of three separate, but visually linked areas: the sushi bar, main dining room, and lounge. A portion of the dining room is defined entirely with 16,350 linear feet of 2” diameter dyed cotton ropes which are draped across the ceiling and space. Suspended light boxes of white oak, raw steel and quilted fabric anchor the sushi bar. The dining area, with its high ceilings and warm-white color, incorporates large frameless windows which wrap up from street level to create a connection between the exterior streetscape and the interior dining experience.
